A thoughtfully-planned, first-rate wind energy facility — designed with Jonesport, Maine in mind.
Explore ↓Jonesport is one of the most beautiful working waterfront communities on Maine’s Bold Coast. We intend to keep it that way.
None of the above views will be affected by Mason Bay Wind.
Mason Bay Wind is owned and operated by local developers who have deep roots in Maine and live in Washington County — people who have a long-term stake in getting this right. Our guiding principle is simple: wind energy development can and should be done in a way that benefits the communities it touches — not just acceptable to neighbors, but genuinely good for them.
That means siting projects where they truly belong — away from homes, away from viewsheds, and away from the character of the community. It means engaging honestly, listening carefully, and designing benefits packages that deliver real, lasting value to the people of Jonesport.
Jonesporters know their town is “just about as windy as they come.” That wind is an asset. When properly harnessed, it can generate clean electricity, create local jobs, and put real money back into the community for decades to come — without changing the character of the town or the views from the harbor. The harbor views, the blueberry fields, the bridge to Beals Island, the colorful lupines — none of this changes.
Environmental impacts are minimal — no wetlands, no critical habitats, no high-value species affected. Every element of the project has been designed with the land and the people in mind.
The project was sited specifically so it won’t be seen or heard from town. Your neighborhood, your viewshed, and your way of life are not on the table.
A generous community benefits package will deliver lasting value to Jonesport — including direct payments, local hiring contractors, and revenues that stay right here in Washington County.
No wetlands, no critical habitats, no high-value species affected. To us, clean energy means more than zero emissions — it means doing things right from the ground up.
Mason Bay Wind will be located on remote, private property on the outskirts of Jonesport, Maine — well away from the waterfront and the neighborhoods that define the community. As a community-scale project, Mason Bay Wind is designed to be a good neighbor first and an energy producer second.
The facility has been carefully designed and sited so it will not be visible or audible from the vast majority of the Town of Jonesport. The iconic harbor views, the bridge to Beals Island, the fields and the waterfront — none of this changes.
